Our ICT apprenticeship covers topics allowing apprentices to support organisations relying on computer and communication systems in all areas of their operations and decision-making processes. As an ICT apprentice, you will develop skills and knowledge of the industry by learning key IT essentials such as fault finding and diagnostics, preventative measures, routine maintenance, system tools and testing. You will also gain an awareness of cloud systems and physical and virtual network components including an awareness of security and firewalls, network architecture, protocols and principles of database migration. Whether you have experience within the field or not Apprentify’s level 3 ICT apprenticeship will give you the tools to get your career started within IT support. If you are an employer our level 3 apprenticeship is the perfect solution to overcoming your hiring challenges and internal skills shortages.

This robust 18-month programme offers three distinct specialisation pathways to align with your career goals: Support Technician, Network Technician, or Digital Communications Technician. Each pathway provides focused training to develop expertise in specific areas of ICT infrastructure management.

Throughout the apprenticeship, learners develop essential skills in troubleshooting methodologies, technical specification interpretation, security policy implementation, and stakeholder communication. They learn to install and configure hardware and software, administer security access requirements, monitor system performance, and document technical processes clearly.

Apprentices will work with a range of technologies including cloud services, virtual networks, operating systems, and telecommunications equipment. They’ll learn to prioritise support tasks, escalate complex issues appropriately, and maintain regulatory compliance while delivering excellent service to both internal and external customers.

The programme combines workplace learning with structured training, culminating in an End-Point Assessment that thoroughly evaluates the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for professional competence. Upon successful completion, apprentices receive a Level 3 qualification and are eligible for RITTech professional recognition.

    • Sign Up And Induction - Begin your Information Communications Technician journey with a comprehensive induction.

The first step in your apprenticeship journey involves completing the application process, meeting with your employer and training provider, and attending orientation sessions. During this stage, we'll establish your Individual Learning Plan, assess your current skills and knowledge, and introduce you to the key tools and platforms you'll use throughout your apprenticeship. You'll also meet your dedicated tutor who will support you throughout your learning journey.

This is the main training phase of your apprenticeship, where you'll develop the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a successful Information Communications Technician. You'll spend 80% of your time applying your learning in the workplace, supported by regular check ins and lessons from your tutors. The remaining 20% is dedicated to off-the-job training through online learning modules, workshops and practical assignments. As you approach the end of your training, we'll focus on preparing you for your End-Point Assessment (EPA). This includes finalising your portfolio of evidence, practising presentation skills, and ensuring you're confident with all aspects of the assessment process. Your employer and training provider will work together to determine when you're ready to enter the Gateway—the point at which all training is complete and you're prepared to undertake your EPA.

    • End-Point Assessment And Graduation - Demonstrate your skills through assessment and celebrate your achievement.

The final stage is your End-Point Assessment, conducted by an independent assessment organisation.
